Her natural timber of her voice is good enough to carry songs without complex or heavy producing. That's why her songs don't have a lot of layers of instruments but still sound amazing. The way I see it, it's like this. When you go to Italy and eat their pizza type of food, all it has is dough, tomatoes and basil leaves. Because ingredients are naturally so good, it's better than most pizza here in US that has all the toppings you want. That's the Billie effect.
