I wasn't too impressed with the much praised walking dead tv series. It is based on the a comic book series that in itself is heavily influenced by zombie movies made by people like romero and o'bannon While the comic revels in gruesome moments the series is watered down so a much wider audience can watch it. This includes a more worked out version concerning relations between the various survivors. I can't say if that is good or bad. The gruesome comics story line was such that I stopped reading.
The problem with series like these is that people are required to do odd things so the movies can dish us tense moments. Like for instance.. who in his right mind would erect a unprotected campsite in an easy approachable place when it is obvious that there are hordes of flesh-eating zombies roaming around?
The part where Rick Grimes, the main character wakes up and finds himself in the zombie haunted world is the part I like most. So is the part where he enters town to find out there are really a lot of zombies out there.
This is captured in great shoot at end of episode 1. Rick gets trapped in a tank and the camera moves upward while zombies swarm the tank.
The icing on the cake was the song Space Junk by Wang Chung..
Here we go..
