Gosh, I remember listening to this in 5th grade with my best friend, and when it was recess time, we would go sit under our favorite tree and sing this song. We thought we would go on The Voice. We thought we'd sing this song for the talent show, and people would finally think we were cool.
And then middle school came around.
And people say that you can still have the same dreams as you did before.
But middle school crushes those dreams.
It rips them apart, and stomps on them, then tosses them in the garbage.
It's been a while since I've heard this song.

i have so many memories with this song,i remember dancing to nightcore in my room with my friends on my 9th birthday. its only been 3 years since then but it feels like forever. i had so little problems then. i wish i could be as happy as i was then.

This song gives me Flashbacks to when I was a suicidal eleven year old, banging my head against walls so hard my vision went white, and having psychotic breakdowns on the daily. I was an elementary school kid, dealing with the worst of a bad roll in genetics. I used to listen to this song on loop, because I felt every word so deeply. It was almost a hyperfoxation to itself: the self glorification of my trauma as a young child trying to cope. I still struggle with the habits I set up back then, and revisiting this song, I just want to hug the little girl I used to be. I want to thank her for going through what she did so older me could flourish, but she never deserved what she gave herself. Here's to you, younger me.
