Story: Part 8 - Evilborne


About 5 years pass

May & Oakley have been hunting monsters, in exchange for supplies. Recently they’ve met a community of people. Their leader tells May they’ve discovered one of oceans had been completely drained. A couple of months ago, they sent a group of people to descended to the bottom. The group hasn’t returned. But, they were able to contact one of members. A woman named Bailey, who reports they’d been attacked. She’d been split from the group, and is currently in hiding.

The leader tasks the two with finding the group, and completing their mission. May takes the job after hearing descriptions of the attackers, being similar to Jinn. Before leaving, they’re given protective suits and firearms. May is given contact with Bailey, and a tracker of her location. They reach the descend point, which is a straight downward cliff. The bottom can’t be seen. It’s dark, with clouds covering the entry. May & Oakley start to descend. It takes about 6 hours until they finally reach the seabed.

They find an entire world had been built using litter, and materials from the surface. A horrific imitation of civilization. Sea plants had overgrown, standing tall like trees. Building were made out of scraps, or lost ships. There were poles sticking out the ground with fish impaled on top that illuminate light. But it was dark in most places and looked almost like hell on earth. There was dead sea animals on the ground, that had been picked clean to the bone, or still rotting. Creatures were everywhere. Some looked more dangerous than the ones on the surface. May & Oakley are astonished and horrified. They travel through a small city.

Every once in a while Jinn can be spotted. They’re either hunting in groups, or being hunted by the creatures. May & Oakley tail a group of monsters chasing a Jinn. They save the Jinn by killing the monsters, then question them. They ask about the group of people. The Jinn tells them they heard a rumor of a couple of humans being took to a forest, but doesn’t know anything else. May kills the Jinn and they leave. They contact Bailey and relay the message. Bailey tells them she can see the forest from her location. She is held up on a mountain in a cave. May & Oakley leave the area, and head for the forest.

Eventually, they come across a big open stretch of untouched land, and behind it is the sea forest. Far in the distance, in the middle of the land a black object can be seen. They walk for a while towards it. When they get closer, they see a black torso emerging from the ground, surrounded by a big perfect circle. The texture of it is moving around slowly like black tar. Oakley warns May not to approach it, but May enters the circle and touches it. It fuses to her body, trying to consume her. May fights it, and takes control. It then wraps around her head, forming a full suit. The armor starts to crack all over. In the cracks lava flows around. Oakley is dumfounded. From the circle a huge creature emerges from the ground. Standing 20 feet tall. It grabs Oakley and throws him extremely far into the forest. May’s suit forms a weapon in her hand. A large blade. The monster swings its arm at May. She doges and throws the blade into its eye. It screams in pain. May jumps onto its shoulders, grabbing the blade still in its eye, pulling it back opening a gash on the top of its head. Blood sprays from the wounds as it falls to the ground defeated. May’s suit starts to change. The center of the suit turns into a deformed white core, and the helmet changes into something similar to a biker’s helmet. May continues.

Bailey sees a man flying over the forest. She watches as he crashes into the woods. She immediately contacts May. “That was Oakley. I’m on my way.” Says May. Bailey says she’s gonna find Oakley to give him medical attention. May argues against, informing how dangerous it is outside. But Bailey being closer, leaves anyway. May picks up her pace, while avoiding the monsters in the forest. They’re all losing sunlight. Bailey sneaks her way towards Oakley’s area. She arrives in a muddy section of the forest, with tons of zombie like people. She scans the area until she spots Oakley half stuck on the mud. She can’t tell if he’s alive or not. She approaches him and pulls him out the mud. He’s alive unconscious, but his legs seem to be broken. The zombies around are walking slowly towards them. Bailey calls May as she patches him up. May is almost there. Bailey finishes with Oakley and props him against a tree. Bailey uses her pistol to hold off the zombies, but tells May she’s almost out of ammo. As the sun is disappearing, May rushes, but things aren’t looking good for Bailey.
