the fact that a disney star is publicly advocating for sexual assault survivors by sharing his experience as a male CSA survivor is so fucking monumental, and yet its being overshadowed by breakup discourse. all they have to say to him is āstop whiningā and āyouāre digging up old dramaā and sometimes the fun āyou cant be raped, youāre a man.ā even now, nobody with influence wants to support him. itās so fucking bizarre, i genuinely donāt get it. how does moving on quickly from a relationship make you so taboo?

I've been so caught up in Olivia's album helping me through tough times that this interview made me realize how much negative impact it had too and what damage it did. It's so sad that society needs so sensationalize the poor people's life. I have so much respect for Joshua, his courage and his strength.

Joshua is honestly so inspirational and he really doesnāt deserve all the things he has gone through! After listening to this I could go on a rant about why he doesnāt deserve the hate to anyone who disagrees! He is so strong and I canāt believe he has gone through so much! I mean he was dying in hospital with a 30% chance of survival, he was abused as a kid, ppl would play the songs about him when he went into coffee shops over and over , was groomed, abused at 5! and he is still really young and he has gone through so much and deserves the world! My respect for him is sky rocketing and he is one of the strongest people emotionally that Iāve seen.

realising that this man was a part of a christian theatre, that this man grew in such a toxic environment being treated w shame, that this man was sexually abused, that this man was bullied, that this man HAD A 30% chance of living and that this man was on the verge of death makes me so mad at how our society will still rather look at the lies and rumours that is being put out by people that has absolutely nothing to do but spread bullshit. this man still have the heart to choose to see the humanity in a person rather than THEIR DRIVE that is fueled by anger and insecurity . this man chose to smile and understand people who couldnāt have the heart to just shut up. JOSHUA U ARE AN INSPIRATION, and i canāt fathom enough how precious u are bro ily

Iām speechless by Joshuaā¦ heās the kind of people we need more of. He acknowledged and took accountability for whatever he may have done but heās also done the ground work to be better. You can tell how genuine he is by how passionate he is. Idk I wish I had more people like that in my life too.

'When people have shitty friends, they settle because they don't have any other friends. And they think, well I can't abandon these friends 'cause I'll be alone. You're better off alone than with shitty friends' - Joshua Bassett. Amen to that indeed! As someone who had 2 shitty friends throughout high school, I wish I had the courage at the time to speak up for myself and leave that friendship. I've never in my life felt as alone as I did throughout high school. I had friends but they didn't care about me or didn't include me in any way. Joshua, I seriously wanna thank you for saying this. It means more than you can ever know!

The amount of hate he got for moving on from a relationship was awful. He didnāt deserve it and he didnāt especially didnāt deserve to be told by the internet that he couldnāt be SAād because he is a white man and that he lying about it for attention. Joshua really seems like a great person that was just dog piled by bandwagon hate. Props to him for continuing to pursue his passions. Hopefully people will realize how fucked up it was to hate on him and appreciate him for his talents.
