Never been a guitarist but Iâm certain I auditioned a guitarist on his first. He showed up with no amp, no pick, and hadnât even listened to the songs. It was a hard rock band and he showed us a finger picked folk piece. We were like âthanks, bye.â I auditioned another guitarist, he had a huge rack effects rig, digital controller, could sweep, play any scale ever, claimed to be a guitar teacher... didnât listen to the songs, refused to play in our tuning/key, wanted to just randomly shred over our riffs. âThanks, byeâ. Auditioned a bass player another time for a death metal band. He brought a 10 or 15 watt practice amp that was supposedly âreally loudâ, no tuner, 1000 year old strings. Broke a string first song, declined to learn the riffs, headbanged really hard though. âThanks, bye.â
