I was in the army at airforce base Twente('82/'83 airbase monitoring)in that time dutch airforce flew with the f-5 and many other european airforce planes hosted Twente, like harrier and f-104, but most impressive by far was the f-4.the way it looked, the front wingtips up,back wing down.no smooth lines, maybe ugly, but beautiful..........and exhaust pipes like sewer pipes releasing blue rings of fire during takeoff.

There are currently no '105's flying but that is due to change, the collings foundation who right now has some rare planes, a B-24, B-17, P-51C, F-4D Phantom II, A-4 Skyhawk just to name a few and all 100% flying is working on getting an F-105G flying and on the airshow circuit soon so keep an eye out or google "collings F105"

@pvtsoap262 YEAH...I think the attrition rate for Thuds in Vietnam was over half. I would think the only way to put one together is to modify the hell out of it. Put a newer engine in that bad boy with modern avionics. Otherwise, you are looking at a financial and physical nightmare to keep it maintained.

Beautiful aircraft! From nose to tail! Just a gorgeous beast of an aircraft! If I was the enemy I'd want to take a picture of this beauty before they shot me down! Long live the mighty Phantom! Phantoms Phorever!
