I’m 70 now. This song takes me right back to the year it was released. Rented an apartment in a beautiful old house and filled it up with this and other songs from the era. Had a good friend named Tom who I loved dearly. I remember sitting on the wooden floor with him, listening to this song over and over, talking about everything in the world, and making plans for our future. Our plans never panned out but the memories stay strong and this song is the soundscape for them. Preserve your memories, they’re all that’s left you.

The saddest thing is, that this song is still necessary in 2024.

Went to a concert in the late 1980's in Manchester. Didn't know who the supporting act to Huey Lewis & the News was. A guy slowly walked onto the stage, sat at the piano and began to play....this!! The audience were in stunned disbelief, as the rest of the band 'The Range' joined him on stage...what a performance and one of the best concerts I've ever attended. What an unforgettable evening, thankyou Bruce & Huey.

When I was out to lunch with a girl I really liked and scrolling through the car radio for music. I knew we had some different tastes but then i heard the intro to this and stopped. She said she loved this song and I said I did too. We sang it out loud together and held hands smiling. I bought her an autographed piece of sheet music of this song for Christmas and 13 years later it hangs in our bedroom. We still hold hands and sing it whenever we hear it. Its a very special song for us.

I bought the LP because I immediately fell in love with the way Bruce plays the Piano. This song is still awesome in 2024.

One of the greatest piano players to ever exist on this planet. Unsung hero. But still doing it. Plays like a legend

Hearing this song ALWAYS takes me back to being a 12-13 year old, riding with my Grandpa in his 1983 Toyota pickup. We'd hear this song on his truck's lousy 2-speaker radio and I'd ask him to HUSH, so I could hear the entire song! When he passed away in 2016, I went with others to pack up his house. Surreal. As I left his house for the very last time, I got in my car and immediately played this song as I drove away, crying and filled with memories of Grandpa and youthful days that won't ever be again..

I'm in my early fifties, and I have come to the sudden realisation that most of the artists I listened to as a teen are probably in their late 60s or older. Such a plethora is musical geniuses getting older and aging like fine wine. Brilliant rendition of a great song and composition of the orchestra.

I was born in 1988, this song came out in 1986. I'm going to see Bruce Hornsby tomorrow in concert, April 4th 2024. What a classic and great artist to stand the test of time.

I always enjoyed this song and especially the message. The meaning has become so much more over the years. I was 24 when this song first came out. I am now 62 and life has greatly changed for me after I lost my dear Rosita 3 1/2 years ago to cancer and I am the primary care giver for my 93 year old mother-in-law. Life takes on so many changes.

Nothing compares to 80's music. No music today even comes close.

"Ah but Don’t you believe them" is the important lyric any young person or anyone with empathy for fellow human beings needs to hear.

Imagine being a member of the BBC Concert Orchestra and getting to accompany such great legends "Good day at work babe?,.. yeah was alright, was playing with Bruce Hornsby today, usual stuff..how was your day?.."

On my 18th birthday I was with my friends standing around a piano singing, and I remember thinking before I know it, I’ll wake up and be 60 years old. I’m 68 now and I’ve never forgotten that moment—time flies!
