I think this is my favorite surf edit ever. The surfing and waves are incredible obviously. But the editing is just as mind-blowing plus the filming is so good - the surfer and wave are perfectly framed in every shot. I had to rewatch two times immediately to appreciate it. My favorite brilliant editing moments are: -the transition from the psycho wedge section to the lakey peak section in which the footage and photos are matched tastefully to the melvins drum solo (including timed coconut chops). the song switch to from melvins to TBJM at 6:10 is seamless. it took me a second to figure out that the sort of siren-like high pitched buzz from the melvins song continues into the beginning of the TBJM song. - the reversed footage of rolo flipping off a closeout matched to the reversed sample in the chemical brothers song at 9:52. the way the song ends flipping through photos is sick too. Props to everyone involved in making this film - it super inspiring. I would like to become a surf photographer/videographer one day and this is the sort of thing I would hope to create. Surfing could really use more creative edits like this.
