One of the most important skills in learning to read and write music is note naming. Itâs not unlike when you were learning to read and write. You had to learn the alphabet. The musical alphabet is a bit simpler because itâs only 7 letters long.
This video covers note naming on the piano keyboard, clefs(treble, alto, and bass), how to name notes on all those clefs, and a few other special cases regarding accidentals.

I have been involved with music since junior high school. I am now seventy-two years of age. In all my years I have never knew about the Alto clef. Why is that? What really helps with clefs is knowing one inimately. I know the treble clef, so the bass clef to me is just two steps lower then the treble clef. It's a hack, but it works.
