The Duke of Sussex paid tribute to his friend Sergeant First Class Elizabeth Marks, who he described as a ābeacon of inspirationā.
He first met SFC Marks at the 2016 Invictus Games in Orlando and said he was āhonouredā to call her his friend.
The five-time Paralympic medalist, 33, suffered bilateral hip injuries whilst serving in Iraq in 2010. Her left leg has since been amputated below the knee.
She was named a Soldier of the Year at an award ceremony hosted by the Military Times.

Congratulations to SFC Elizabeth Marks, who I'm sure deserves better than having a former working royal prince award her medal from outside his kitchen door. Somewhat reminiscent of Harry's announcement of the birth of his son, incongruously outside the stables. This man has no sense of place or appropriate conduct.
