"Me & Bobby McGee" is my favorite song by Janis Joplin & she recorded it a few days before her death. It was written by Kris Kristofferson. Janis was a one of a kind singer with a unique voice. Sadly we lost her too soon. She was only 27 when she died. She had a lot of great songs such as "Summertime", "Down On Me", "Maybe", "Little Girl Blue", "Try (Just A Little Bit Harder)", "Get It While You Can", "Bye, Bye Baby", "Move Over", "Mercedes Benz" etc.

Ran her light show with "Big Brother and the Holding Company" in Salt Lake City 1967, sat in a booth with her and drank a beer with her.

Kris Kristopherson wrote this song. He was considered the best country songwriter by many of his peers. He was a Rhodes scholar, a graduate of West Point, a helicopter pilot and instructor, and a janitor in a music studio in Nashville while he was a struggling songwriter. He wrote the best hangover song in history, Sunday Morning Coming Down, which you guys should feature.

Like Charlie Daniels said in his song Reflections. "The world heard a knock, it was Janis at the door They let her in And when it seemed this whole world was falling apart The house lights would fall and the music would start She'd be giving us all a piece of her heart Once again"

“I’d trade all my tomorrows for one single yesterday” hits hard when you think that she recorded this shortly before she passed.

What a talent she was! For fun, check out "Mercedes Benz" from the same album if you haven't already. Not song really but a 2 minute spoken ditty that is classic Janis.

I had the wonderful privilege to be about 20 feet away from Janis when she sang her heart out in Toronto 1970. She absolutely blew the crowd & myself away. Sadly, she would pass away 4 months later.
