I met Jay Sebring, although I dont remember. Was May of 65 i was 2 years old ive written my mother for the picture she has of him and me. He gave me my first haircut. My mother worked for Marion Robert Morrison, better known as John Wayne. He demanded i get a hair cut ha ha ha, i was a tiny tow head with hair too thick for a two year old. My mother was taken back by his demands but eventually gave in. My mother was nervous, he told her to relax and trust him. John Wayne had his hair done at the sebring salon, so my mother read a magazine while i was looked after. She never imagined how I'd look when he was done. He gave me a pixie cut, and my mother fell in love with the style. I will upload the images she sends me. It was amazing to see the differences before and after. He was a beautiful man. It's such a shame that he didn't get to finish his dreams.

Hi Scott I am a Sebring Certified hairstylist. I have the plaque with my name and date. The man I worked for in the mid 70’s. I pretty sure he has passed away now. The certificate is dated after Jay Sebrings death. The shop I worked in dealt with alot of sport celebrities and jockeys. I worked for him for at least 8 years. I have just retired and like you living here in Palm Springs area. But I did hair for many years and was Sebring certified. That -

It's difficult to believe that it's been almost 55 years since Manson's murder spree. This makes me wonder what Jay would have done and where all of them would be, had they lived. Thanks for keeping their memory alive.

It's amazing that a salon still occupies the spot. I love the old footage and photos. I'm a barber in Savannah, Georgia

Scott, your contribution to Hollywood history is IMMEASURABLE. Please take some joy & comfort in knowing that long after you're gone, your written & video histories will be enjoyed & appreciated by generations to come. Your attention to detail & FACT is second to none. SERIOUSLY. You set out to record & detail & educate regarding Hollywood History and, in so doing, you've BECOME PART of that very history. BRAVO!! Best wishes to you always. Much gratitude & love from John in Middletown, PA. Now......how about that dedicated Barbara Payton video?..... LOL 😄❤

Please don't let Jays salon be demolished! We need to preserve historical buildings as much as we can. Also, I wish there was more interior photos of Jays house (of the era when he occupied it) I've searched everywhere but no such luck.

LA county losing all of these venues. They demolish them and replace them with unaffordable, high rise condos. What a shame.

The salon is a lot bigger than I expected. It would be a shame if it was torn down, it is in such good repair and looks great.

Did you ever try reaching out to Larry Geller he was Elvis Presley's hair stylist and he used to work for Jay before that. You can even see him in the background of one of Jay's videos. He would know as much about Jay's studio as anyone. And he's still alive.

Sharon Tate's mother Doris worked as a beautician and Debra Tate once said it gave her mom something to do to help her after Sharon's murder because she was so grief stricken and I heard Doris Tate and Sharon's dad were good friends with Jay .Doris said in a old interview one of her customers said " Hey I heard that you are Sharon Tate's mother Aww I am so sorry about what happened to her " and it was a couple of years after the murders and it caused Doris to break down and cry. This was a show about parents of murdered children .they started the interview when Doris was actually fixing a lady's hair at her Beauty Shop while telling this.

Unbelievable Scott, another incredible video. 👌🏻 its a real shame that America isn’t great at preserving it’s incredible history. I mean no offence to anyone reading this. As an Irishman living in Dublin, I believe very strongly in being respectful of important history and our elders. I’ve commented on your videos before about how fascinating they are. Super interesting. I just wish they’d stop knocking down all the iconic and historical stuff. Thanks for posting this. 🙏☘️☘️☘️
