I adore this song and I adore Karin and all of her work, but what I cannot stand is people complaining that her recent work has a different sound than her self titled and sheâs being âtoo political and feministâ. Karin has always talked about politics and feminism in her work, even in the self-titled album, songs like Iâm Not Done, Concrete Walls, and Coconut. Itâs nothing new, sheâs just taking a different approach to talking about those subjects in order not to be misunderstood. Yeah, you heard If I Had a Heart on some television series a few years ago, but Karinâs life has changed. She is a human like you or me, and as much as she may seem like it, she isnât some magical high priestess, sheâs a human. Because her personal life has changed much over the past ten years so has her music and style. If you donât like her recent work, then go listen to the old stuff, itâs still right there.
