I don't think it's necessarily a lack of confidence, they just know as a whole the typical Sony gamer won't buy this type of game, and the hope is with it being in plus it has the rocket league effect. Same thing as fall guys or fortnight.

I wouldn't say the game being free for PS+ users would mean the game's gonna drop. I know that Fall Guys launched as a free PS Plus title, and that game took off well enough to last for quite a long while. Enough to eventually go multi-platform and Free-to-Play.
With Foamstars, I can only see 2 things that'll drag this game down.
The first being the lack of marketing on Square Enix's part. We didn't really see a whole lot of marketing of this game, other than it popping up once or twice on PlayStation's State of Play streams.
And the 2nd reason, being Square recently admitting that they used AI-Generated Art to create in-game album covers for the game's soundtrack. Given AI has been a very controversial topic, I imagine this news will kill a lot of interest for people who're against AI-Generated Art. Especially when it's implemented in video games.

i think since it was a GAAS game being free make it more accessible and available to spend money in the game with microtransactions

You are fee to have your own opinion. Even if the people who played it seemed to like it and even if the game is gonna be free for anyone to try. By the same token, don't expect it to fail simply because you want it to. Also, don't expect people who played it and liked it to suddenly start hating it to affirm your own hate.

But PlayStation has been slowly releasing games day 1 on ps plus …. This isn’t new … stray , ghost runner , that thinking game …… this is part of the move into GAAS ….. they need players to okay in order to have micro transactions…. And the beta wasn’t that bad

Great watch as always 👊🏿. I kinda agree with a lot of the comments. I think these types of games tend to do well as free drops similar to Rocket League. And im someone who doesnt play these games coz im not a multiplayer person. But i tend to see these games rely heavily on popularity when free coz most people unless they are fully into that genre won't go out and buy it without it first getting hyped by people playing it and garnering a fanbase.

Foamstars looks awful but Fall Guys and Rocket League and Fall Guys launched on PS+ and were great so I wouldn’t say this is an instant death sentence
