Itâs quite interesting how usually business interests kind of dominated American expansionism/interventions in some areas, like how America had a raid on Taiwan before it was cool in the 1860s or 70s because one of their merchant ships was destroyed. Or how they bombarded the falklands over arresting American whalers, the banana wars etc. etc. I used to think history of America was boring in some ways, even though I was an American, but I never really looked past the surface details until a few years ago and discovered the interesting events and practices that still define how my country operates.
