Back in 2016, a rapper from Memphis did one of the most interesting rollouts I'd ever seen. In his project, The 30 Day Mixtape, Tyke T released a song a day for the entire month of (I want to say) September and, the top 10 highest voted songs would be featured on the project. Couldn't imagine with all the beat selections, writing, features, mixing, mastering, etc how long it took to execute such an undertaking.

Its all about preparation for momentum, thatâs all. Weâve learned after the past 2 decades that it doesnât matter how big you are, people have short attention spans. Have to have as big an impact as you can, solidify a fan base, than rinse and repeat every 2 or 3 years, preparing the whole time in between.
Also, all the weird stuff is usually to solidify that solid 5-10 thousand fans that are absolute freaks for your music, making sure you have retention between your next album. Thatâs part of it I think.

I could give you a whole verbal essay on the Because The Internet album rollout but it would take me hours. Itâs a very detailed and thought provoking rollout. Things down to the books on he had in The Boys room tied into the larger story and themes. My favorite album of all time because of it

My favorite rollout is most definitely the ARG that Nine Inch Nails did to announce their dystopian album Year Zero. Not only did it include a lot of cool lore but it also ended in the winners of the arg getting sent to a secret concert that got "invaded" by a special police force and everyone had to scatter.

Death Grips really has one of the most carefully orchestrated public images in the music industry, despite the fact that they want you to see them as a force of chaos. It's kinda genius.
