Sheās from my town, Concord Massachusetts. Her father is a very wealthy man with connections that got her where she is. She was given a lot audio equipment and was pampered. Our town has a large underground music scene and she claims that she wasnāt accepted since she was too out there which is bullshit. Sheās claiming to be a bedroom pop artist since that all she could make with her equipment, which is obviously not true. Everybody in our town is very mad at her for saying we werenāt supportive of her.

"Bedroom pop" and "lo-fi pop" are marketing tools, now. You've got to be kidding yourself if you think these rich kids are in that genre for anything other than the money. Look at Frankie Cosmos, for example - she's the poster child of this movement, and she's the heir to millions with celebrity parents. The same thing is happening with the reverb-heavy Mac DeMarco clones, too, like boy pablo. It's happened since the dawn of music, rich kids ride somebody else's wave and get dollar off of it, whilst the innovators get table scraps.

While I love her music and I'm glad she's getting attention, I honestly can't say I'm surprised. I know amazing musicians and bands that can't crack a million views because they don't have enough connections yet. (Mild High Club for example)

i agree, i love her music but it seems kind of impossibly hard to blow up that big with a few lo-fi, simple songs - i do some of my own stuff that's similar and hitting twenty soundcloud plays is a task! but yeah, there are so many other artists who've worked harder in my opinion

Iāve been following clairo for a min, bro. She even liked my tweet about her last May. Iām deadass a fan but I will say itās very, very odd how sheās grown so much in such a sort amount of time. Pretty Girl is good but is it really 6 million views in a couple months good? Like honestly... is it? Iāve seen literally no modern artist release a semi decent track & get millions of views in a couple of months or Big interviews & performances with some of the biggest artists out rn...
