Alec might seem like the overprotective and uptight one but he's also the only one that actually acts like a rational Shadowhunter. And the thing that annoys me the most is that it's not like Alec doesn't know how to chill, his friend's incapability to protect themselves is what gets him concerned every time and every time he has to save their asses. He falls in love with Magnus who's every part as whimsical as Alec's friends, but who is also actually strong enough to protect himself and has an actual sense of self-preservation; this goes to show he was forced into the position of being the mature one since no one else was.
