Iām not an only child, but was raised in a broken home. My father died when I was in fourth grade and somehow that caused our family to drift apart. We donāt eat together at the dinner table. We donāt do our vacations together anymore. We no longer talk about our days, how life has been. We donāt celebrate birthdays anymore. Itās almost like Iāve been living with strangers these past 10+ years. So it feels like Iāve been living alone despite the people under the same roof and I could relate to this song so much. Love this song. Iām an only child too and I used to not think that Iām lonely, but the older I get the lonelier I feel. So I guess it really gets lonely being an only child.

Iām an only child, and an introvert. One of my worst fears is my parents dying, yes itās a broken home but I honestly donāt know how Iāll feel without a direct family connection of any sort... Yes I have a wonderful husband and someday Iāll have kids. But... Iām terrified... taking care of my parents in the future all on my own... mourning them, feeling even lonelier than I already am... just the thought makes me sob. I always pray to be blessed with no less than 2 children. Even if theyāre not close theyāll share their upbringing, share their rants about their parents somehow I dunno...
