Play over a two-chord is fun and easy. This video shows you the basic technique for playing with guitar and piano accompaniments. The video uses an A minor flute, but backing tracks are available at www.Flutopedia.com/vamp.htm for A minor, G minor and F# minor flutes.

Very helpful! Tried to ‘jam’ the other day with a guitarist and it didn’t work out very well. Now I will know what I am doing. Thank you for continuing to share your musical and pedagogical talents.

Thanks for these tips. Not only good for practice and "jamming," but I can see how it could be used in writing songs as well.

Another great lesson and a wonderful backdrop to experiment with extended scales and alternate fingering techniques.

Thank you once more Clint! Clearly explained as ever, and the looping facility on the tracks gives me a real chance to get my ear in!

Great video Clint!! Looking forward to the next one too! I would like to play some chords myself on the piano to use for backing my flute. I don’t know which chords to play to match the minor pentatonic scale. Do you have suggestions for that?

Thanks Clint, great video! Your A3 flute has a fairly unique mouthpiece design and has a great voice, who is the maker? Thanks for sharing your expertise with us, you do the fluting community a great service with your flutecasts.

Does one have to train the ear to find the best notes for this? What if I don’t have the ear for it? Can I learn this without having somebody there to tell me when I’ve got it? Are the dissonant notes wrong? I’m tempted to go techie on this but I think it could be a rabbit hole! Everyone keeps telling me that if I learn to play by ear, I’ll be a better player. You have a very uncanny way of knowing right where I am in my flute journey. This is the next thing! Thank you!

Hi Clint, great video as per usual. I’ve imported these into GarageBand and wondered what the bpm is for them?

Ummm. This is sort of embarrassing but I’ve listened to all of the 2 & 3 chord vamp tracks a few different times and I find the chord changes too subtle to detect. I’ve played music in several bands through the decades as a bass player and never had any trouble following chord changes. In other flute backing tracks I have no problems. So I’m puzzled where the part is I’m supposed to listen to. I’ve tried using an EQ to enhance different frequencies of the music in case my iPad is not clear enough. Listening to these tracks is just frustrating.
