This song means a lot of things for me. It is honest and deep, we're not always okay and sometimes we try to hide our problem and our feelings, but when we scream and accept that the things aren't alright and we had problems, is the first step to be fine again. That's why I always scream with all my heart "Damage". Amazing....

I think it's genius, really, that Joe wrote a song about personal struggle and suffering to almost a waltz; it's beautiful and aggressive; you actually feel it live (was so thankful to see 'em this past year perform this one in their set in Newport, KY). I love that 'damage' is at the top of his register; sometimes he cant hit the note, but honestly, that's when the song really resonates; there's literal damage being done in order for him to convey the want to be and do better and to love himself so he can love others. Maddeningly heavy and complex stuff! That's incredibly brilliant song writing.
