I don’t think anyone is gonna read this, but I feel like I need to share my personal experience w/this song. When lust for life was released I was struggling with anxiety and a really low self estern. I was also insecure abt how future would be and almost leaving the religion I’ve been raised since a child (I used to be a jw). This song came at me as a hug. I’m a big fan of lana since 2014, but when get free was released I felt like she was speaking directly at me. This song saved me, and I say it with no regrets. It was my shelter during the moments I was afraid to leave everything that made me sad behind, and gave me strength to finally get up and follow my own way. Now I’m free of everything that once used to hold back my potential and make me afraid of being who I am. I’m finally happy, loving myself and more secure and proud of the woman I became than I ever was. Thank you so much, Lana. You has changed lives with Get Free and the whole Lust for Life work ❤

Lyrics *
Finally, I'm crossing the threshold
From the ordinary world
To the reveal of my heart
Undoubtedly, that will for certain
Take the dead out of the sea
And the darkness from the arts
This is my commitment (ah)
My modern manifesto (ah)
I'm doing it for all of us (ah)
Who never got the chance
For a handful
And all my birds of paradise
Who never got to fly at night
'Cause they were caught up in the dens
Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind
I want to get off but I keep riding the ride
I never really notice that I had to decide
To play someone's game or to live my own life and now I do
I want to move
Out of the black (out of the black)
Into to the blue (into the blue)
Finally
Gone is the burden
Of the crawling way of being
That comes from energies combined
Like my part was I
Was not discerning
And knew as we found out
We're not in your right mind
There's no more chasing rainbows (ah)
And hoping for an end to them (ah)
Their arches are illusions (ah)
Solid at first glance
But then you try to touch them
There's nothing to hold on to
The colors used to lure you in
And put you in a trance
(Yeah)
Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind
I want to get off but I keep riding the ride
I never really notice that I had to decide
To play someone's game or to live my own life and now I do
I want to move
Out of the black (out of the black)
Into the blue (into the blue)
Out of the black (out of the black)
Into the blue (into the blue)
Out of the black (out of the black)
Into the blue (into the blue

Lana, I just have to say thank you for your music. It started with Ride and ends with Get Free. Those 2 are my constant songs.
I had to grow up really young due to a narcissist mother who didn't show me love, who isolated me from the world. I lived in fantasy worlds with music and books.
When I was 20 I ventured out to the world of Man and was raped by my boss. The first man I met and trusted.
I spent the last 10 years miserable and dying, cancer taking my voice away.
I've spent the last 25 years figuring out the why and the how and thanks to you and your music the Universe has provided ❤️🤟🏼

I feel like this is a continuation of black beauty..
Black Beauty:
"Sun and ocean blue
their magnificence
it don't make sense to you
black beauty"
Get Free:
"I want to move
out of the black
into the blue"
then at the end of the music it sounds like beach noises. But I don't know, just a thought

did anyone notice that get free ends with sounds of sea and seagull, representing the beginning of the NFR! era? another thing that indicates this, is the fade out effect that get free ends and the fade in effect with which norman fucking rockwell begins
