I'm an American Lithuanian (third generation) who likes to keep up with things in Lietuva and I find your videos informative, entertaining and I appreciate your non-native perspective. I'm also a retired commercial banker who worked in Lietuva for US Treasury in the early 90's. I'll see if I can't dig up some solid numbers on Vilniaus Prekyba and some of the other bigger companies in Lietuva and pass them along. Thanks for your good work.

Vilniaus Prekyba originally has shady past, remember watching one documentary on them. But to be fair which businesses didn't have shady past in the 90s 😂

Little side note- Numavičius family business practice is pretty evil, that's how they managed to expand and became the richest in Lithuania.

we definitely need more independent concurring supply companies in Lithuania - maybe the food prices will finally not be so huge

apoteksgruppen (now rebranded as Kronans Apotek after the merger) is owned both by Euroapotheca (Numa's company since 2018) and Oriola (a Finish pharmaceutical distribution company that owned Kronans Apotek before the merger). Tomas Rupšys (previously CEO of Maxima) is the new CEO 17 april (before was Erik Sjögren) and Jurgis Rudgalvis is the chief of integration (the rest of the leadership team are Swedish).

While I'm sure some shady stuff has/is gone on behind the scenes to gain such wealth, there is something refreshing about the country's richest family getting their money from a chain of stores instead of profiling you and selling your data to advertisers and being almost entirely digital.

Very interesting, I didn't even know that and I live in Lithuania.

From my experience Maxima in Estonia (at least in Tallinn) is considered one of the worst chains. Empoyees there are underpayed, usually lack Estonian language knowladge and stores overall are dirty and have little space for movement.

Ačiū again for your interesting and quite diverse videos! Eurovision is coming soon, could you make a video about its importance in Lithuania?

random odd connection here in the USA: I work for the pharmacy chain, CVS (we have something like 14,000 stores, lol) and we are almost ALWAYS accross the street or next to or within a few hundred yards of a Walgreens - they are not associated with us, but the competition drives the business - when 1 instuance company isn't accepted at Walgreens, they come acress to CVS and we (usually) take their insurance - and vica versa ... all the talk of pharmacy in this vid just compelled me to shout out the weird connection between geographically adjacent businesses here :)

Interestingly, here in Tallinn, Maxima is seen as the worst supermarket, where workers are all Russian-speaking, lacking Estonian knowledge, and are underpaid. I know that in Lithuania they are seen as one of the best.

AkropolE (the last e has to be pronounced aproximately like the Lithuanian short e), Apteek (the Estonian ee has to be pronounced like the Lithuanian long ė; double letter = a looong sound in Estonian). Euro is pronounced not in English, too. The video gets a like from me anyway.

Wonder what his tax arrangements are, I bet he does not even reside in Lithuania and is registered somewhere in London.

What? A guy changed his family name to Numa? ...I guess, next step is to announce that he is she :P Like Wachowskis did.
