8 years. 8 whole freaking years, and this song still evokes more emotions than I've ever cared to feel or express in my entire life. 8 years and listening to this song still sounds and feels like the first time. Florence's music transcends and breaks all laws of time and relativity lol idc idc!
EDIT: This absolute banger still has its grip on me in 2022. STILL banging this in 2023 - Florence is FOREVER

this helped me when i was hospitalized for suicidal ideation. It wasn't exactly healthy to listen to a song about suicide when i was having those thoughts, but it still helped me transform that sadness into something more positive. It was also nice to know that I wasn't alone in this taboo romanticizing. Even now, years later, when I think of how terrified I am of death, this song helps me think through it and cope. The only way to be at peace with death is to live your life without fear. and make full use of it. Earn your eternal rest, because death halts for no one. I've loved Florence and The Machine since I was a child, and I'm still obsessed with them. They've really impacted me and my life. I wish anyone reading this a long, happy life. Know you are loved.

For anyone who may not know, this song is inspired by the English writer Virginia Woolf. She suffered from Bipolar Disorder throughout most of her life and eventually succumbed to it. She committed suicide by drowning with "pockets full of stones." This song beautifully depicts her struggle. One of Florence's best songs!

She once said that as a child, she dove to the bottom of a swimming pool and, for a moment, felt like she could breathe, and she's been trying to recreate the feeling ever since.
