"La Mer" is a song by Charles Trenet, based on a poem he wrote when he was sixteen years old. The song was first recorded by the French singer Roland Gerbeau in 1945.

Vocals - @Tatiana Eva-Marie
Violin - Gabe Terracciano
Guitar - Vinny Raniolo
Rhythm guitar - Sara L'Abriola
Bass - Wallace Stelzer

Filmed by Adrien Chevalier in Brooklyn, NY.
Sound mixed by Mike Perez-Cisneros.

Lyrics:

When I lived in Orleans back in the early 1950s, I used to listen to French radio with my Mom, who spoke fluent French, and she would translate the meaning of the words to us kids. I sure do miss her and I miss those days of joy as well!

I clearly remember when Bobby Darin's version of this song was on my radio in 1959. I was 11 and it spoke to me in a way which seemed magical. This is more like the original version (before Bobby Darin) and still warms my heart. I grew up in Nashville, TN and performed in local rock bands in high school and college. It was too much fun! Thank you for making my day.

Hands down my favourite rendition of this gorgeous song. I don’t speak a word French. Don’t care. I love this song and even more so this particular interpretation. ❤️❤️❤️

It's like medicine for my 83 years old tired ears and to rest my eyes on the beautiful singer. It becomes "da capo" many times now. Just love it!

She's a doll! And, such a wonderful singer...Makes me think of gentler and simpler times...Go to dinner, dancing and perhaps the theater...Long gone, and I didn't even live through that era! My parents did and told me about how things used to be when they were a young couple.

Tatiana Eva-Marie sounds so happy, and suggests that it's not a tragic song, unlike the old (and only French?) recording of the song by Charles Trenet in the 1960s. Magnificent! Thanks.

How many hearts has she melted? How much joy has she given? How many have fallen for her charms? Breathtaking and enchanting, delightful and mesmerizing.

The violinist just kills me every time. His whole solo is based on the melody of the tune, which is a great thing to do with a jazz tune; but he pulls it off with such panache! Especially that opening lick!

Charles Trenet must be smiling up above. I know everyone down here is. This is something truly beautiful, uplifting and so needed in these turbulent times. I cant say thank you enough.

The music is great. But, I do appreciate the relaxed smiles everyone has. They appear to be truly enjoying what they are doing. Too often artists seem to take life too seriously. Life is to be enjoyed.

She has a voice that Is sublime, and she understands music and the words , a rare talent. Probably the best version of this song I have ever heard. I can just imagine driving to Paris, getting out of my Jag, in my blue suit and sitting down with an espresso in hand , crossing my legs and soaking up the music and atmosphere. These are the moments we live for .
