As someone with ADHD, this animation feels exactly like what ADHD feels like. The ticking clock at the start feels like how I (as well as many other ADHD sufferers) feel like there isn’t enough time, that were running out of it. The scene with the wings and the red spine feels like how there are so many things we cannot do, even though everyone else can, like a bird stuck in a nest, hence, the wings. The scene with the girl with the butterfly and the flowers represents how we “space out” and live in a magic world of our own creation. It also is like how we wish to do such big things. The part where the black box breaks is like how whenever something goes wrong, we can sort of “shatter”. The section where the girl is crying while a snake wraps around her is sort of like how people are always telling us “stop making excuses” or “get over it” when that is not possible, so its hard to handle it. You begin to spiral in a self-destructive mindset that makes you believe “I’m a bad friend, student, and worker”. The spinning diamond can mean a lot of things, but for me it represents how our ideas and goals are the only things keeping us going, and when it glitches, it shows how it feels impossible, or too much for us to do. When the girls head is the only thing in the frame, for me that kind of represents how we just try to get over it and be “normal” like everyone else. When she looks exhausted that is what we feel like a times, emotionally, when we made yet another promise that we couldn’t keep, or just… I don’t know. Like we’re sick of life at this point. The part where she is in a spinning mirror feels like when we spiral asking who we are and why we’e were so bad at this whole life thing. “Am I just dumb?” you might ask. “It must be my fault. I’m just stupid, I guess”. And the part where there are two of her is like the façade we put on for others so they shut up with the “get over it” stuff. The façade becomes so fake, because no one seems to care about who is under that mask. You just become “The quiet girl who can’t focus.” And the way it repeats shoes how it seems like an endless loop. This is just my experience so I might seem weird or whatever, so sorry. Great animation!
