One of the highlights of this years electric picnic was when I was wandering along through body and soul in the misty rain when I chanced upon Ailbhe on stage. Her voice lured me in and am I glad it did. Songs which I had heard for the first time and loved instantly. This girl is a million times better than most female artists who are currently making millions and should be on the main stage next year with her sound and amazing voice. Absolutely loved it and have been telling everyone to go see her. Cannot wait to catch her live again. If I was to use one word to describe Ailbhe Reddy, it would be "Captivating."

This song...it hit me like a ton of bricks on Spotify. It was raining. I was painting. I had just broken up with my fiance of 4 years. I was devastated. I had no choice but to let it go, even tho it killed me to do so. Thank you, for being different and for seeing things you may not even know you see. I don't know if you wrote it, my soul hopes you did, but the child in me is afraid to look. Even if you didn't, the way you preform it is quite possibly the most moving lament I have ever heard.

I'm not a mistake
Hurts when you talk that way
That way
And I'm not a waste
Time it takes to fuck this up
The distaste distrust
I'll miss you
I'll miss you
But I'm not in love
I don't think I can be
Thought that I could be with you
I'm not in love
No I can't be
Thought I could be with you, you
With you, with you, with you
And it's not a shame
You act this way
It just shows
It's me you love
But I'm not afraid
To walk away, because I know
I'm built to live alone
And I'll miss you
And I'll miss you
I'm not in love
No I can't be
Thought that I could be with you
I'm not in love
No I can't be
Thought I could be with you
With you, with you, with you, with you

/ Another brilliant IRISH female singer with a beautiful distinctive voice, and how come all our so-called IRISH radio DJss aren't playing exceptional IRISH singers like this on a regular basic. These so-called IRISH radio DJss seem to have conveniently forgotten that it's OUR TV license fee money that's paying their staggering wages, (to say they've been pulling the wool over our eyes for years now is an understatement, this is one of the reasons I'm highlighting all of this). But I think Megan O Neill should join forces with Niamh Keane and Caitriona F and Ailbhe Reddy or Elga Fox, or join forces with three other female IRISH singers from Coffee Hill Sessions. Start playing gigs together in pubs etc and let each singer sing two of her own songs and continue on until the end of the night and maybe at the end of night sing three songs collectively. I think this might be a good way to make a name for themselves and it would be a lot more inviting for venues to book acts like this. And when each singer thinks the time has come to branch out on their own, well best of luck to them. One last thing I'd like to include here is if any unknown IRISH singer is waiting for an IRISH radio station or an IRISH radio DJ to give them a break and play their songs, hell will freeze over faster, let's be realistic, everything is controlled. Best of luck to all IRISH singers out there and if anybody is interested in contacting me I can be reached at - j.ruane@hotmail.com - I have other ideas I would like to pass on to IRISH singers and one of them is an outright boycott, God bless.
