Overwatch was supposed to save Blizzard. Instead, it was the beginning of the end for one of the most beloved game developers in the world.

Between a broken game, a waning player base and enormous controversy, it seemed like there was no hope left for Overwatch.

And yet, Blizzard got one last chance to make it right.

Overwatch at its core is undeniably a fun game, the problem is Blizzard is always making poor decisions when balancing. Playing OW is like eating the best tasting ice cream and every other bite you get a piece of soggy bread.

My favorite game of all time. Thereā€™s nothing like it. The adrenaline from those long sustained fights with both teams battling on the cart over that last inch. Iā€™ll never get enough of it. Iā€™ve played damn near every day since the game launched in 2016 and Iā€™ll continue to play until Blizzard shuts the servers down.

2016-2018 was truly the magical years of Overwatch, the game was at its peak that time. Then Brig came out and on top with slow balancing, it fell off. Before the game felt like a hero shooter as it plays the best that way but with Brig, she made the game more moba which didnā€™t fit right for Overwatch. It doesnā€™t help that they decided to announce OW2 and it fell off further. 3+ years from that and we have OW2 launchā€¦PvP only though. The game did had an exciting launch at first but it fell off fast. There were many things that changes and some were missing. Overtime itā€™s clear that the game was not made for original OW players which to me is frustrating and feeling betrayed. As for esports, it felt forced and too fast. They didnā€™t let grassroots export grow and Blizzard had full control over the esports scene. Never thought I seen the Overwatch franchise mismanaged so badly, all thanks to Acti-Blizz. Edit: I still think the game still has room to make a come back. Only time will tell. I may not be playing the game as much as before but I still love the franchise since OW1 open beta times.

OW was the first game in a long time that got me excited to play games on a regular basis, to this day it'll always hold a special place in my heart.

I discovered this game when my dad saw a video of the 2016 World Cup and bought it for our shitty Dell laptop. Because it was the only computer in our house capable of running an FPS game at the time, my sister and I shared an account and computer. We loved the game so much that we got another computer to play together, and even though we stopped playing together and took long breaks, we always came back. A year or two ago, I rediscovered the game, and even though it was nothing like before, I still loved it. After never being able to get past sliver as a kid, I almost managed to hit plat with my friends and while it's not at all impressive, it was enough. Even though I'm no longer a huge fan of Overwatch, it will always be my first and favorite pvp game of all time.

I think itā€™s extremely based that the minimum salary was 50 K, and I deeply appreciate what the Man said about respecting these people as top-tier athlete, who are singular and their talents, and deserve to be compensated

blizzard is really genius in making the cinematic for the characters before launching the game. it tells story about the characters in storyless game. it make people attached to the characters.

I may not play OW anymore, but it will always hold a special place in my heart. The game and the story helped get through some rough times, giving me a place to escape to and play with friends when we'd come home from deployments or be away from our families.

The fact that this video outlined the downfall of the game so accurately is amazing brig, no hot fixes, double shield, no new content. Itā€™s crazy how they screwed this up

Still one of my favorite games of all time and gave me another chance to prove myself in this world. I am now a SMM for a semi pro team, made so many friends through this game, and play this game competitively and it's been such an amazing ride and I can't wait for the future.

More vids like this. It is well paced and it would be cool to see a series on the Phase Change in gaming. This is what I call the shift from online multiplayer to free to play games as services games that currently dominate the online gaming world.

You say that overwatch's downfall was it's failure to listen to the community. And then you actually listen to the community and realize the only way blizzard could make them happy is by removing all forms of healing, shields and armor from the game or at least making them so useless that it would just turn overwatch into a half baked call of duty.

Despite all ups and downs, Overwatch will always be my favorite game. No single video game ever, no single gaming events ever had me feel excited and hyped like Overwatch. Nothing was more than Jeff Kaplan on Blizzcon stage announcing new Overwatch content. Nothing gives me more adrenaline rush than diving into enemy team with nano-boost on overtime. Nothing ever. The memories and feelings will always keep Overwatch as my favorite. Always..

what makes a game isnt the esport scene or how many players it has but the community that surrounds it
