Only in theaters December 15. #WonkaMovie

Based on the extraordinary character at the center of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, “Wonka” tells the wondrous story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today. From Paul King, writer/director of the “Paddington” films, David Heyman, producer of “Harry Potter,” “Gravity,” “Fantastic Beasts” and “Paddington,” and producers Alexandra Derbyshire (the “Paddington” films, “Jurassic World: Dominion”) and Luke Kelly (“Roald Dahl’s The Witches”), comes an intoxicating mix of magic and music, mayhem and emotion, all told with fabulous heart and humor. Starring TimothĂ©e Chalamet in the title role, this irresistibly vivid and inventive big screen spectacle will introduce audiences to a young Willy Wonka, chock-full of ideas and determined to change the world one delectable bite at a time—proving that the best things in life begin with a dream, and if you’re lucky enough to meet Willy Wonka, anything is possible. Starring alongside Chalamet are Calah Lane (“The Day Shall Come”), Emmy and Peabody Award winner Keegan-Michael Key (“The Prom,” “Schmigadoon”), Paterson Joseph (“Vigil,” “Noughts + Crosses”), Matt Lucas (“Paddington,” “Little Britain”), Mathew Baynton (“The Wrong Mans,” “Ghosts”), Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (“The Shape of Water,” the “Paddington” films, “Spencer”), Rowan Atkinson (the “Johnny English” and “Mr. Bean” films, “Love Actually”), Jim Carter (“Downton Abbey”), with Oscar winner Olivia Colman (“The Favourite,” “The Lost Daughter”) and Hugh Grant (“Paddington 2,” “A Very English Scandal”). The film also stars Natasha Rothwell (“White Lotus,” “Insecure”), Rich Fulcher (“Marriage Story,” “Disenchantment”), Rakhee Thakrar (“Sex Education,” “Four Weddings and a Funeral”), Tom Davis (“Paddington 2,” “King Gary”) and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (“Paddington 2,” “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” “Mary Poppins Returns”). Simon Farnaby (“Paddington 2”) & Paul King wrote the screenplay, based on a story by King and characters created by Roald Dahl. Michael Siegel, Cate Adams, Rosie Alison and Tim Wellspring are serving as executive producers. King’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Chung-Hoon Chung (“Last Night in Soho,” “Ah-ga-ssi”); Oscar-nominated production designer Nathan Crowley (“Tenet,” “Dunkirk”); editor Mark Everson (the “Paddington” films); Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (the “Paddington” films, “Topsy-Turvy”); and composer Joby Talbot (the “Sing” films). Neil Hannon of the band The Divine Comedy is writing original songs for the film. Warner Bros. Pictures Presents, in Association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Heyday Films Production, a Paul King Confection, “Wonka,” set to open in theaters and in IMAX internationally beginning 6 December 2023 and in North America on December 15, 2023; it will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

I just love it when Willy Wonka says things that don't make a ton of sense

I managed to watch it with my class before premiere, and honestly? It's amazing. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. There's not a single moment I disliked or cringed at. And Wonka's character was just as sweet as his chocolate. You should totally watch it, it's worth it.

The look on Wonka's face when he says "I hate what happens next," says both that he feels sorry for the other chocolatiers and that he's about to take a sort of delight at what's about to happen to them. I love it.

Slugworths not entirely wrong. Sometimes the simplest of chocolates can be the best but at the same time, there's nothing wrong with going a little creative like Wonka did.

Simple chocolate huh? Well, I say
BAH HUMBUG! Chocolate is supposed to be fun for all of us. Making chocolate, creating chocolate and evenly designing chocolate is absolutely thrilling! It can make us fill with joy and a laughter for creating these wonderful chocolates the world has ever seen and make.

Ingredients in Hoverchocs. Excluding Chocolate, there is... - Marshmallow that has been Harvested from the Mallow Marshes of Peru. - Caramel that has been Salted with the Bittersweet Tears of a Russian Clown. - Cherry that has been Cherry Picked by the Pick of the Cherry Pickers from the Imperial Gardens in Japan. - And, of course, Hoverflies that are Inside the Chocolate which Acts as its' Makeshift Cocoon.

It’s not the chocolate that matters. It’s the people you share it with❀❀❀

Since the real Slugworth is present here that would explain why Wonka had Wilkinson pretend to be Slugworth to Augus, Violet, Veruca, Mike, & Charlie to test them since in reality none of them knew what the real Slugworth looked like. Not to mention I like how this movie also adapted more elements of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory like Fickelgruber, & Prodnose are present meaning that they existed in Willy and the Chocolate Factory but offscreen. I also like how this film has a diverse cast like having Slugworth being black & having Noodle as a niece it really just adds to the story so much.

There is a further thing i wish to add from my previous comment. I don’t claim to be an expert in chocolate making or candy making in general, but i do know this from years of watching cooking, travel, and baking shows. Chocolate has its own flavor, and so does marshmallow, caramel ( salted or not), and cherry. To mix its flavor correctly with only one of these flavors takes skill and experience, but he successfully mixed all three of them with the chocolate in one small pack. That alone should have proven Slugworth, Fickelgruber, and Prodnose that Wonka was indeed not to be taken lightly in his skills.

This scene makes me think of the “Fizzy Lifting Drinks” that Charlie and his Grandfather drank and started flying in the air from the original Willy Wonka movie!❀đŸ„čđŸ«â€ïž

I'm already loving Matthew Baynton's performance here, but I wonder if Simon Farnaby's witty writing will be noticeable.

I like that Slugworth looks completely different from Mr. Wilkinson, who would later impersonate him. The Golden Ticket winners obviously have no idea what Slugworth looks like, but if people see the original film for the first time after seeing this film, they're going to see the impostor and be like, "Wait, that's not Slugworth. What's going on?"

timothee has done such a great job at capturing the magic that the original wonka film holds with all its mystery while still making the role his own. the main trailer sold me with the score because i was a bit hesitant after the teaser dropped at first. excited to see if it holds up!
