i really like how they used white voice singing technique for this song. it's a style of singing used in a lot of traditional slavic music. and the ukrainian lyrics aren't pronounced half bad either! i was a bit sceptical about misha at the beginning of the musical because i thought they'd just make him into the stereotypical foreigner comic relief character but it wasnt the case at all. i like that it touches on the problem of a lot of ukrainian (and children from the post soviet region in general) were adopted by western families only to be mistreated when they couldn't adjust to the new environment or didn't fit their expectations. it's genuinely well thought out.

The symbolism at 3:02 makes me feel unbelievable emotions. It's honestly really smart to the choreographers or whoever thought of this concept, because in my eyes, it's genius. Most of you probably know what I'm talking about, but it's the fact that Jane is in the middle with Talia projecting onto her dress. It's really smart due to the fact that Jane doesn't know who she is, basically like an empty soul, so she's used for the person that Mischa never knew, the empty soul that can used to cast his emotions onto somebody.
I know I probably started ranting off-topic at the end, but I'm so obsessed with this and in love with whoever thought of it 'cause... GAWD DAMN..

The absolute respect he has for Talia just goes to show that considering him solely a rage driven male is horribly deriving of his emotional range. He buttons his shirt before speaking to her, despite being very masculine and a show off he says "I lay my masculinity at the alter of your womanhood."; a reverence, almost akin to a cherished deity. He is so maddened and loving of Talia half of his dying thoughts are about how he loves her and wants to be with her. The other half are rage toward his forced upbringing, his family dying, his new location, and the fact he cannot reach Talia. And fair enough to him - he is a wannabe gangster who likes money. But when it regards Talia he lays all else out to bear and be vulnerable in her wake.
A tragic fate. May she find him in the afterlife.
Side tidbit - I wonder if the reason Jane Doe was the one to exemplify Talia on her dress is simply the fact nobody knows who Jane was or what she looked like as she was missing a head. So it's easiest to project Talia onto a headless woman. IDK, reaching?
