In 1998, The WWE Hardcore championship was introduced and what started off as a joke title, became a title that was defended under 24/7 rules and created some legendary moments. The title was completely a product of its time though and so when it was retired in 2002 it was seen as the right time for it to go. But as the years went on and the WWE network was created, a demand for a hardcore or just a 24/7 rules title belt would rise. And the fans got their wish in 2019 when the WWE 24/7 title was introduced to them. And while the WWE 24/7 title started off as a really fun title, WWE stopped caring about it quick and it died a brutal death. So let’s talk about the WWE 24/7 championship.

R Truth was the only thing good about that title. Dude is hilarious

They missed a golden opportunity when Truth and Brock were in the ring and Brock F5'd him. They should have had Brock win the title. Then, all the jobbers would run out, see Brock with it, and stop. There would be a game of "You first, I insist!" before Brock gets out of the ring and starts chasing the jobbers. Then at a few points in the show you see the jobbers fleeing Brock en masse. Near the end, Brock remarks "well, that was fun!" and puts the title on Paul Heyman's shoulder. Brock pats him on the back and says "have fun!" and walks away. Cue Heyman standing there, mouth agape like a fish out of water, and the camera pans to the side, revealing all the jobbers smiling. Cut away.

The only man who made the 24/ 7 championship special and fun to see was r truth imagine if he would have held it for a thousand days before they throw it away

the fact that the title didn't even want to go into the trash is pure perfection whether it was a botch or not.

Honestly, Truth and Carmella, Drake Maverick, Dana and Akira made this title interesting for me

R Truth made that title mean something, and the 7 second dance breaks with him and Carmella were pretty cool moments.

R Truth was actually a Hardcore champion during his first run when he was known as KKwik😊

The title died when the pandemic hit. The worst thing about it was the love square between Reginald, Dana Brooke, Akira Tozawa, and Tamina; the best thing about it was the feud between Drake Maverick & R-Truth/Carmella.

R-Truth made the belt enjoyable to watch tbh, Truth always knows how to make gold from trash.

I remember when The Hurt Business first formed when Lashley was US champ and Shelton Benjamin had the 24/7 title and MVP made it sound like Shelton Benjamin being 24/7 champion was a big deal. Had there been a few legit reigns between the joke stuff I think it could've been more well received

When Nikki Cross threw the 24/7 title belt in the trash (and missed lol), it felt like divorcing an abusive ex. I don't think anyone wants to see the 24/7 Championship Belt return, even as a joke.

I loved the hardcore title. I loved the idea behind it. And it gave mid and low card wrestlers a chance to shine some

I love 24/7 title, it's so fun seeing guys like it's bring so much personality to whoever holding it or chasing it and the title have no ceiling meaning there's infinite things they could do with it like maybe put it on the line on upupdowndown by playing games or something

I think the highest point the title reached was the wedding angle that surrounded it toward the end. That Dana Brooke run got some friends into wrestling.

The true successor to the WWF Hardcore title is the DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship, and I'm not just saying that because I once held that title.

Assuming when truth comes back he just fishes it out of a bin.

I loved the 24/7 championship when it first debuted. R-Truth being like a Crash Holly 2.0 was perfect booking

That belt could still have value if it had hardcore rules so you could have more shot on location street fights instead of everything outside the arena just being comical rollups.
