For anyone who doesn’t know, this song is about the Jim Jones cult, who ended up telling/forcing his followers drink a fruit flavored drink mixed with cyanide. Jones was very charismatic and convinced his followers to move to Guyana, and preached about having a sacrifice for a “greater cause” called “white night”. Jones would also try to set an emotional attachment to the followers while preaching, hence the sweet talking lyric, “nobody loves you like I love you, oh my dear.”

Why is no one talking about the variation he does when singing "oh my dear" in the final chorus? It's SO. FREAKIN. SATISFYING. Such a tiny detail that takes that final chorus and the song to a whole new level. The falsetto and the slight autotune-like vocal processing? Absolutely orgasmic. What a moment after what's already such a jam-packed banger. We're watching masters at work here y'all. Oli's such an insane songwriter and he only keeps getting better.
