I actually think the message of Home Alone 3 is similar to the first two. The kidās family underestimates him but it turns out heās smart and brave. Also, Alex ends up having a touching moment with the mean neighbor the way Kevin did with the old man and the pigeon lady. Finally, unlike the first two movies it is believable that a mom would leave her sick son at home to go to work for a few hours instead of forgetting him on a family vacation.

Something i did always enjoy about this movie is how it felt like the stakes were being raised every time. First movie is a kid by himself defending his own home from burglars.
Second movie is that same kid by himself in a place completely foreign to him, fighting off those same burglars who found out he was there and wanted revenge. Higher stakes because Kevin is now a priority for Marv and Harry.
In Home Alone 3, it's a completely different nightmare scenario for a child. Arguably worse than having no adults to help, having plenty of adults who just flat out do not believe you. And this time it's double the enemies and they're also on a whole different level of skill compared to the Wet Bandits. ... At least they are until a child recreates a Saw movie

Honestly this was not a bad film. There's movie magic because the story is being told through the eyes of a kid, but in a kid's movie, I don't see anything wrong with that. The storyline made sense once the details came together, and the movie held its weight in comedy. In the end, I think it is not as loved in the trilogy because people who remembered Home Alone 1-2 had a strong connection to the original characters (especially Kevin).

Alex was not taken seriously, took it upon himself to thwart the baddies, and got vindicated. The theme totally worked for me as a kid. The āreunionā is emotional because his mom just realized heās in danger half way through her absence, and because she wants to apologize for not believing her kid.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I actually really enjoy this movie. It certainly has a different feel from the first two movies, doesn't have the heart that they do, and definitely not as grounded as them (Well as grounded as you can say the first two are anyways). I just find this a fun movie to watch. It probably helps that I watched it as a kid of course. I am extremely surprised to hear that the third one was also written/produced by John Hughes. Maybe it taking place in Chicago should have clued me in?

I always liked Home Alone 3. I think itās underrated. The first two films were special, but I appreciate they tried to do something different, instead of reinventing the first film 50 or more times. (Home Alone: Lost in London? Home Alone: Lost in Hong Kong? You get the idea.) One thing that might have been better: I used to get one or two of the male spies mixed up as a kid, and I never had to worry about that with Marv and Harry. If the spies had been just a little more varied and interesting, maybe it wouldāve been more memorable.

Tbh I just love this movie. Home alone 3 was something else. Alex's mom was nice and really cared about her children, she did not forget about Alex being home, she was trying to stay home with him and even though Alex called the police, she was not like "you are grounded". I really enjoyed these "burglars". They seemed so cool and dangerous at the beginning of the movie and then they were almost killed by a child. And the parrot was my favourite. Especially the scene in the iglu where the main burglar is hiding and the parrot just shows up. It was made for children and I feel very nostalgic about watching it nowadays.
Btw my boyfriend and best friend have never seen it. I was so suprised that literally no one remembers this particular movie.

I actually grew to love this movie when I was younger. The side story with Mrs Hess always broke my heart. She was so mean and cruel and you will think what the mafia people do to her was justified but I got so scared for her. I was so happy he found her and helped her. It made me look at her differently.

Ironically, I'm pretty sure this is the only Home Alone movie I ever saw as a kid. I distinctly remember the toy car, and the cranky lady neighbor who loved sourdough bread, and the parrot. I remember thinking it was hilarious when the parrot said "don't come in I'm naked." Truly the pinnacle of child humor
