I think what’s throwing you off about the makeup is the fact that when we do special occasion makeup we tend to go a bit overboard with certain things like bronzer, nose contour, blush, eye shadow etc. I think in this case the blush needs to be concentrated more on the apples of your cheeks and have a soft blend outwards with a lighter blush underneath. Also the undertone of your lip shades should match the blush for best results. Anyway you’re gonna look gorgeous Soph❤

Watching you getting emotional at 27:41 about how good your makeup looked made me get emotional 😅

For the next trial, you should try a shimmery pink in the waterline. I’ve always felt like matte nude/white shades can look kinda harsh and unnatural, but a pink can still brighten and open up your eyes and the shimmer would make your eyes sparkle in the light rather than looking flat and stark against the white of your eyes 🩷

Less blush, look to see if the nose contour looks good in photos since flash photography can make makeup disappear. More of a pinky lip. I liked the light pink waterline, makes your eyes bright and awake and excited to be married. You look gorgeous!! I've been watching you for ten years. Got married in 2016 myself. Congratulations! 🎉

I hope this doesn’t come across as weird lol but this video made me so happy. It’s odd.. we don’t actually know you. There is a weird parasocial relationship between content creators and us, the viewers. But I had the worst year last year. I became paralysed from the waist down, my mental health was awful and I nearly opted out. I was finally diagnosed with adhd and autism. All of this to say, you were my comfort creator through all of that. You reignited my joy for makeup and helped me to find and express myself again. And this video makes me happy because I’m happy you’re happy. I see your joy. You are a beautiful person Soph, inside and out. I wish nothing but great things for you, James and Pinks. Just thank you xx

This is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
1- I LOVE the cream i think it really opens your eyes, the brown makes you look slightly tired so i would personally do cream or nothing
2- On the day, since its a summer wedding i would do a teeny bit less blush as you may become flushed anyway
3- I recommend doing a workout after a trail to see how it holds up😂 and to see if anything smudges/ creases more than usual and it’d be a good test of it a mascara would transfer
4- The headband is so cute !! If your having a rehearsal dinner or anything of that nature definitely consider wearing it ❤❤❤

Soph - I was so unbelievably excited to see this video post! I got married in September of 2023 but I still adore watching makeup videos. Here are my insights combined with what I learned from my incredible makeup artist: I would do a simple base for your makeup that you know won't act funny underneath make up. It's best (and less risky) to not use too many products underneath your foundation. I used hyaluronic acid acid serum, sunscreen (I used Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen - such a smooth silicone feel and no white cast) and my holy grail primer (Hourglass Vanish Airbrush primer performs beautifully!). For foundation, I would pick the one that wears the best/longest. It is a marathon of photographs, crying, laughing, dancing, sweating...all of the things. Whether you do your eyes first or after your base, I agree that you want to be a bit more heavy handed than usual so it lasts and shows up in photos. Fenty Diamond Bomb (either color) is another option that adds a beautiful sparkle to the eye lids and/or inner corners. I loved your eye look in this video - so many different products added complexity and dimension! My makeup artist advocated for brown liner as well to create a soft glam look. She meticulously applied individual lashes which gave me the full lash look I wanted but miraculously it looked natural. Also individual lashes prevent the risk of your strip lash band popping up. For the water line, you could try applying a lighter liner in the inner third (closer to the nose) and a darker one in the outer two thirds - a happy medium that I often do! With powder, you can't go wrong with Laura Mercier but make sure you have a travel size version that you can access throughout the day. I have oily skin and needed to powder a few times! With blush, since you are a blush lover, I think you can still be blushy, but I would concentrate the Rare Beauty Luminous Blush away from the apples of your cheeks (a tip from a few of my favorites beauty influencers!) and treat it more like a blush topper. For the lips, I think Charlotte Tilbury is a go to - I would experient with a few different colors; she actually just came out with a few new shades of Pillow Talk. I didn't apply gloss on my wedding day for the same reasons you mentioned, but you could experience with a glossy lipstick (CT has a glossy lipstick, Superstar Lips, that I love - it wears so nicely). Last but not least, use WAY more setting spray than you think you need. My makeup artist sprayed my face 5 - 6 times with the Morphe Continuous Setting Spray and my makeup lasted until 2am when I went to bed (I did powder a few times as well as reapply my lipstick). I hope this helps and again, congratulations! You are glowing in this video. Every bride is beautiful because they are lit from within with happiness. :)

I feel like something neat to do would be to do your wedding makeup and then go watch a sad movie and see how everything holds up or if anything smears that way you know if you need to swap mascaras/liners/setting spray to one that holds up better
