I agree with your point on reservations. It makes everyone feel like they have to take advantage of the day more. They feel like they can't just pop in for an hour and then leave because that is wasting their reservation and they can't just drop in again tomorrow. Disney probably likes this as it makes people stay in the park longer and commit to doing the park more.

7:30 David... did you really get out unscathed? You didn't incurr the wrath? You were allowed to FILM ON REVENGE OF THE MUMMY???? Wow... that's surprising. I wonder who was upstairs at that time. Normally people get yelled at over the speakers for having their phones, cameras, or other recording devices out on this ride. You got lucky there, my friend. Very, very lucky.
Also I've just noticed that I'm somewhere in the thumbnail lol

I definitely feel it's a better vibe having no reservation system. We are magic key holders but I grew up with a mom that would purposely prioritize going "off season" to limit crowd issues. Going during holidays didn't cost more back then. It was a trade off for seeing the holiday stuff because you knew the crowds would be nuts. Probably wouldn't stay as long to ride rides but just to experience the park's holiday fixings and then go.
My family is now the same except we can't make that choice. Either we go during the busier days (due to pass availability and our own schedule), or we don't go. I did notice it's unfortunate how different it is now, that people are crankier on average, especially during the holidays and when it rains. We had to fight our way through crowds in the rain. Which in SoCal isn't so cold that it was a good thing, we were sweaty and cold at the same time and frustrated by people no doubt showing up to keep their reservation and didn't seem to actually enjoy being there.
Or people that were coming from out of town (also have to get reservations) and would be taking in the park in a way that was more zoned out in awe I think. Or just trying to get their bearings and not moving to the side......more chances of slipping on surfaces....waiting for rides in the rain. It's just not pleasant.
We used to purposely go on rainy days because we wanted less crowds. But trying to handle both at the same time is lame. And we have because we rather not eat the loss in case we get sick last second one time.
I'm looking forward to a change in CA like what they have done for passholders (or are going to?) In Florida.

I love how he shamelessly used his Disney umbrella at Universal!
