Why Lordship Salvation is a Dangerous False Doctrine - Salvation through Grace Alone

What salvation is - AND what salvation is NOT.

Salvation is simple. It is simple to believe. It is faith alone, and Christ alone that saves.

Christ paid for your sins on the cross. The moment that you believe on Him you are saved. John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish...

Most people don't want to trust Christ. They want to trust in their own works.

Salvation is by grace. The word grace comes from "gift". As we trust in Christ alone to be saved we are justified freely, by His grace, Romans 3:24. Grace is a free gift - unconditional. It is God’s unmerited favour. For by grace are ye saved - and we don't add a “BUT”, or PLUS SOMETHING.

Salvation is through faith. Grace is the effective means - and faith is the instrumental means of our salvation. It's how we appropriate it. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Some falsely say faith really means “obedience”, or “commitment”. No, FAITH means TRUST. Believing on Christ is NOT about your lifestyle. That’s not the object. The OBJECT of the faith is CHRIST. Either you believe - on Him - or you don't.

Salvation is not of works. “Works-based Salvation” tries to work its way to Heaven. Yet we cannot do enough good works or earn merit to save ourselves. Titus 3:5 ...Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us...

Salvation is in Jesus ALONE. He saves everyone that believes on Him. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. John's gospel talks of ‘believe‘ about 100 times. Works can't save you. It is only faith in His finished work.

When you trust in Christ you have salvation. Salvation is all about whether He knows you - or not. Some claim “many wonderful works”, Matthew 7:21. A trusting in works isn’t going to cut it. A man can profess to be saved and yet he has not trusted in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

You can't trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ if you're trusting in something else - whether it be your own works, your own repentance of sin, your own conviction, your own remorse, your continuance in repentance, your striving after living right…

Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. How you live has nothing to do with it. How you live doesn't prove you're going to Heaven. Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. You don't have to earn it. Actually, you can't. You are declared righteous by simply believing or trusting in Jesus for your salvation.

Salvation is sure. Once you believe on Jesus you are saved forever. You can have a full assurance.

Our assurance is NOT dependent on subjective human performance, or feelings. You can know a sure salvation. If what we are trusting in is right, then we can be sure. A salvation by grace must EXCLUDE any form of work. The Bible is very clear that salvation is NOT OF WORKS.

You CAN trust that the Lord Jesus has made FULL PAYMENT OF SIN. Salvation is by grace through faith. If it's by Grace it cannot be of works. Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works... It’s either grace - the free gift of God - or it’s works that you’re trusting in.

If your trust is in Christ, you can say, I am saved, for now and forever, because Christ did what I could never do. Christ died on my behalf, and I put my trust in Him. I am not trusting in myself. We don’t look at whether we have had enough faith, or and whether we have really repented, or whether we are really a disciple.

Sin is not always the object of repentance. It can be. Sometimes it's repentance from dead works, repentance from idols, repentance towards God. Acts 26:20 …they should repent and turn to God…

What matters is where we place our trust. Our Lord assures us, John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. Do you believe? John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

What matters is what you are trusting in. In Acts 8, Phillip talked with the enquirer, who sought baptism, after he’d outlined the gospel to him. He asked him one simple question, to clarify whether he was saved: Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

When a person believes on Christ that person is saved and secure forever. We are saved by grace plus nothing, through faith plus nothing, Christ plus nothing.
