As a Filipino who lived in South Carolina for only a year, it always has a special place in my heart! It was the first U.S. State I called home, and the people are one of the jolliest and nicest folks I've seen. If I had the choice between California and Good Ole' South Carolina, South Carolina shall be my choice! God bless Dixieland!

7:35 It's heartening to see two generations carrying on the tradition of their ancestors. May the spirit of the South live on forever!

I keep coming back to this video, time and time again probably because of the way it makes me feel. Everyone's having such a great time, I can't help but smile!
I feel as though this is what a lot of people are missing in life - camaraderie, community, a shared identity.
They say of tradition, that it is not worship of ashes, but preservation of fire. I believe that's perfectly captured here With these people and this music, you keep that fire burning. Moments like these are treasures, and the folk who try to beat you down can never take them from you.
In all, I don't think I've seen near as much spirit as in the American South. As a New Englander, you have my highest respect. Keep your wills and your spirits strong!

"A Musical Time Machine" - the music of the 2nd South Carolina String Band. I'm a "late comer" to your music and videos, but a big fan. I can not, will not accept the story that the South was an evil empire. It - does - not - make - sense !! The music is an insight into the times, the era, the day of the Civil conflict. My gut tells me the people, the Southern people, are being greatly maligned by a bunch of modern-day "Carpet Baggers". May God bless those who fought and gave full measure to their beliefs.
