In this episode, I traveled to Sound Emporium Studios to produce a song with the top Nashville session players. The song was written by Daniel Tashian and Cecilia Castleman, and the band featured Tom Bukovac (Guitar), Todd Lombardo (Acoustic Guitar), Steve Mackey (Bass), Tim Lauer (Keys), and Chris McHugh (Drums).

For those of you asking when this song is going to be released, this was just a live tracking session with one slide guitar overdub. It was never meant to be released and is a rough mix. Feel free to listen to it on the video. Thanks!

There's something magical about this mix. It's not overmixed. Instruments sound natural; I don’t hear processing, I hear just the pure gold of amazing musicians doing their thing. I feel like I’m right there in the studio. This mix sounds gentle and warm, it’s like getting a hug.

It's so refreshing to hear this, it´s obviously not overproduced at all (or even produced?) and that just feels human and heartwarming. Felt like hearing an old Fleetwood mac song but with todays quality. Great work from everyone involved. Killer for a "just for fun" thing.

This is the heart of Nashville -- pros who play just the right thing to make the song all it can be. It would be cool also to see a long-form video of this session to hear the discussion of parts, how they decided what to put in and what to leave out. That in-between discussion when the individual parts have been worked out and everyone has to come together into one cohesive final product - that's the stuff so many amateur players haven't experienced. It's the difference between just playing your part well and playing for the song.

I cant tell you Rick, how encouraging this is. Real music, on real instruments by people with talent and passion, who know how to pass that passion down to an audience. I sometimes lose hope listening to popular music, but I hear this more and more, especially with young people; musicians realizing how rewarding it is to channel their emotions through the act of writing and playing real music. Lovely song, beautifully and simply done, and the process was wonderful to watch...

Oh Rick, I'm in love with all of this. Man, we just don't get quality like this in the UK. I don't think I can press the subscribe button enough times. That song, setup, everything just fantastic. Thank you so much from us here over the other side of the pond! Thank you. A+++++++

Rick, this would make an amazing ongoing series. Get a room full of session players, take a new song by an up-and-coming songwriter, and show the process of making it into a radio-ready demo. Edit each episode down to 20 or 25 minutes. Showcase all the talent, and educate newer musicians about what they can aspire to and how. I would watch every episode, no matter what style of music is being produced.

The process of writing, producing, playing the parts, and then mix/master can be SO time-consuming and agonizing at times. I'd consider myself a "good musician" on multiple instruments, but THIS video shows the true talent of those who can do in an afternoon what would take even a "good musician" a week or more. Thank you Rick for letting us into this world, and hats off to ALL the session players who are part of creating this type of magic every day. The world is a better place because of you.

One thing that perhaps gets overlooked in these videos is just how good it looks. The lighting for example is sublime. Rick has definitely got visual production skills along with everything else.
