The Velociraptor in Jurassic park is actually Deinonychus , at the time of the book and movie, they where considered the same species. Also the Jurassic Park dinos are heavily modified genetically making them not 100% accurate

1:24 Not entirely true. Some species of raptors actually were that size, such as Deinonychus and Utahraptor. In fact, Michael Crichton himself admitted the dinosaur in question is actually a Deinonychus , not a Velociraptor. To be fair, he did it on purpose.
When Crichton was writing the novels, he intended Deinonychus to fulfill the raptor roll. However, he felt the name Velociraptor was more intimidating, so he swapped the names. When the movie was being filmed, the studio agreed with Crichton’s decision and kept the name Velociraptor. Essentially, one of the biggest misconceptions about raptors was intentionally created for the sake of entertainment.
