Same thing happened to me last year. My mom was entering hospice so I decided to host thanksgiving for the first time. I cooked two turkeys mashed potatoes, candied yams, stuffing etc. bought table cloths paper plates and 200 dollars on dessert asking everyone what they wanted. The day before everyone cancels. Never again.
Edit: Thank you for all your kind words, this year for Thanksgiving we’re going to feed the homeless, donating food and toys to those less unfortunate.
