Landry has been a patient at Nationwide Children's Hospital since the day she was born. That's because doctors discovered her congenital heart defect when her mom was just 18 weeks pregnant with her. Diagnosed with heart block, Landry was born with an abnormal rhythm caused by a problem in the heart’s electrical system. At six weeks old, doctors implanted a pacemaker into her tiny body to help stimulate the heart muscle in an effort to restore the heart rhythm towards normal. But progress was slow and doctors needed to perform open heart surgery when she was a toddler to also repair a hole in her heart. That hole was discovered just before she turned two years old. But for Landry, every day after that has been better than the last. This bright little girl now has a bright future ahead because she is surrounded by an amazing care team, an amazing family and she also has an amazing spirit and can-do attitude that never lets anything hold her back.
