you know at least the characters genuinely failed, and failed because they were weak-willed and not because the writers made them incurably stupid

The morgue scenes reminded me of the movie Jane Doe. Both are spooky fun movies.

I like this. The characters aren’t stupid. Just people. Art is a fool. Hamish and Hyme are solid characters. The wife is tricked into the array. The demons is cunning. Nice nice.

I gotta hand it to the deamon, took out the people with common sense first. The wife literally saw the sacrificial circle, knew to stay out of it, but was in such a rush for relief, she fell into the trap further.

The fact that they lost not because of lack of common sense is honestly a breathe of fresh air.

Really love how more cultures are having their lore explored through the lens of that culture.

There's a lot of movies where characters are so incompetent that they don't deserve the win, it's refreshing when they don't.

My favorite part is the demon is actually extremely cunning and plays to it strengths perfectly by manipulating everyone and warping reality to fit its ploy

there's something incredible about the idea of a demon just using a elevator

A great horror film that entails the Jewish faith is “The Vigil.” Creepy, educational and entertaining.

The moment Art broke the amulet and hid it was the moment I cheered for the demon to take Art

I like to think of this movie as a sequel or companion to Fallen and Frailty. Ancient Demons are doing their thing, and the people who fight against them look like psychopaths to the unknowing.

One thing about horror movies is they keep doing the "hero loses" so much so that it's actually more of a twist when the hero wins at this point lol

Its really awesome to see a horror film around my culture I don't often see Judaism represented outside of documentaries and films about the Holocaust so this is really cool to me

I do like that as we get away from Hollywood-approved horror and the same 4 -5 directors of horror, we are getting a flood of new or revamped ideas for the genre. There really is something for everyone. I love supernatural horror and most channels want to focus on the thiller/gore films. Not that it's a bad thing but I love the mystery element.

I really like how the possession was portrayed- at least what I was taught growing up as a Jewish person, while admittedly a bit isolated from other Jews, it's very accurate as to how exactly it's supposed to go down. In that, while if it gets severe enough it can go wild, but for the most part it's very "in your head" rather than physical craziness. And of course, binding the force to an object. I really adore the Jewishness of it all, honestly. Art also has an interesting theme of running away from his fears/emotions. He clearly fled his Jewishness because of the emotions & fears it caused him.

I like how the father’s name is Saul and his friends referred to him as a “good man” because it reminds me of a particular lawyer from Breaking Bad…

That was honestly such a good movie. Being able to see a demon that is worthy of its title

It looks a lot like The Autopsy of Jane Doe from 2016. In fact, are they using the same autopsy set???
