Fried tofu

FOR SERVING:
Noodles
Scallion, chopped
Cilantro, chopped
Cabbage, thinly sliced
Morning glory, shredded
Banana blossom, thinly sliced
Purple or yellow onions, thinly sliced

SAUTED TOMATOES
1. Heat up 1/4 cup oil. Once oil is hot, saute garlic til fragrant.

DRIED SHRIMP
1. Soak all of the ingredients listed under DRIED SHRIMP for at least 30 mins. After 30 mins, remove shrimp BUT RESERVE THE LIQUID
2. Add shrimp into a food processor and blend
3. After your shrimp has ran through a food processor, add it to all the ingredients listed under MEAT PSATE. Combine well and set aside.

BROTH
1. Combine 2 liters of water with the 5 cups of hot shrimp water. Bring this to a boil
2. Once boiling, add blanched spareribs* and bring back to boil. Once boiling again, reduce heat and simmer for 30 mins.
3. After 30 mins, add your SAUTED TOMATOES, salt, sugar, tamarind powder and shrimp paste. Combine well until ingredients are dissolved.
4. Then add fried tofu and MEAT PASTE. When adding MEAT PASTE, add 1 large spoonful at a time. Cook this until the PASTE floats to the top.
5. Your broth is now done
6. Assemble your bowl with vermicelli noodles, scallion, cilantro and preferred veggies and topping

*spare ribs: I placed my spareribs/ pork into a pot and filled it with water, 3-4 slices of ginger and ~10 pepper corns. I brought this to a boil and then dumped the liquid and washed the pork clean. The ginger and peppercorn helps with the small of the pork.

I admire your level of Petty. You didn't even try to hide the tomatoes. They big as hell floating around in it 😂.

Your husband's spirit guides don't play. As soon as you planned on getting back at him, they went in on you 🤭

my mom blends silken tofu with shrimp and the crab seasoning, and it’s soo good! it makes the ‘meat lumps’ super soft ❤

I would cry tears of joy if someone prepared something so tasty for me, I wonder what you cook out of love if this is what you cook when you wanna get back at your husband 😂

"I'm angry at my husband so I spent 3 hours cooking for him." Girl ... that's not how this works.

For wanting to piss off your husband you really put your heart into that meal which I'm sure took no small amount of time. I hope I can have a wife that does this when I make her mad 😂 That's the best scenario honestly. This is what fights look like in non-toxic relationships. I need that

The best part about you is that you’re very entertaining while cooking delicious dishes and provide the complete recipes for them. We don’t have to concentrate too much on the technical part!

I use tamarind soup base in so many dishes, including Bun Rieu. Knowing you do too makes me feel validated lol

this is similar to the Filipino soup we call "Sinigang", which is usually tamarind based! we don't put noodles in it though and ours is probably more sour bc we use the whole packet lol

That dish looks delicious. I worked a short while for the Vietnamese woman who owned a small Asian grocery store. One of the things we used to do was go into the Dallas metroplex with a big van and get all of her supplies her rice, her meatsher tofu, her desserts her vegetables. When it was lunchtime, she would take me to a different Vietnamese restaurant and let me try different Vietnamese soups. All of them were delicious.

That looks good and in Burmese cooking we use tamarind paste a lot for soups and curries so surprised to see it come in powder form, this look like a mix of two ethnic dishes. Will try this recipe too, looks super delish
