MMS Professor Kathryn Fernandez - Bass, Vocals, Guitar, Uke

Kathryn started singing in her elementary school choir when she was 5 years old, where her love for music began. Throughout her childhood, Kathryn studied music through honors women's choir, musical theater, piano lessons, and voice lessons. She loves many genres of music and believes musicians benefit from diverse musical interests and exposure to different styles. Some of her musical influences include: Florence & The Machine, Paramore, Journey, and Death Cab for Cutie.

As an undergrad Kathryn studied jazz guitar and bass guitar. She was a member of experimental music ensembles, choirs, rock and punk bands. She graduated from The State University of New York (SUNY) with a BS in Mass Communications and a BA in Music Industry. After graduating, Kathryn moved to Colorado where she continued her passion for music and found her love of teaching. She has performed in many bands and venues in Colorado. With such a diverse musical background, we are glad to have her as a member of the Modern Music Studio Team.
