You make all the sense! I graduated art school hundreds of years ago, and our acrylic teacher Nathan Ota pressed us to keep black paint off shadows. He taught us to use complimentary color for the shadow - if the light is yellow make the shadow purplish or if the light is white then start with a more bluish shadow. Great job explaining what took me a semester to figure out! 😂

TIP FOR THE PEOPLE THAT FIND THEIR COLORS TO SEEM DULLER/GRAY You can use cool red and a warm blue to make a vibrant purple, and then you do what she did in the videos. If you use a warm red and a warm blue together. It tends to make it gray when you add white. In the video, it looks like she uses a cool blue, a warm red, and a warm yellow, which would make a reddish purple that’s perfect for dark skins. Try and get those colors if you want a realistic skin tone. TL;DR: Get the cool tones and warm tones of the primary colors to get a full range of colors and skintones

Thanks so much for sharing! Sometimes people who aren't self taught explain things in ways that make sense in a classroom/studio setting, but when you're just trying to figure it out like me skipping all the fancy vocabulary makes the whole learning process a lot faster! Now I know the basic colors I need to play with to figure out skin tones for my paintings

camila! this is important!! i learnt the skin painting tutorial on a tiktok you did a while back and it has forever CHANGED how i’ve painted. one thing i need to learn how to paint is HAIR. do you have any tutorials you’ve done that i’ve missed, or do you have a youtube video (from any channel) you recommend learning to paint hair. love you camila 🫶❤️

Just a little tip… if you leave that plastic on your new pallet, the paint will peel right off when it dries. If you pull it off, it’ll stick to the pallet and it’s a pain to get off!

Really good tutorial on skin tones, I have to say, I laughed when you discovered it was raining and actually got excited. I'm from Ireland, we get excited when we get a day when it DOESN'T rain, and the sun actually gets to come out from behind the clouds!!! It rains ALL THE TIME.

You described everything just fine IMO. One of the best skintone paint mixing videos out there, you've explained the process clearly and have demonstrated it clearly. These other videos get to 15 minutes which is unnecessary to teach basics and fundamentals.

“Blue is a Duh-lore, okay? You need a Duh-lore”. 😭😭😭 I definitely do need one it makes the colors so much more realistic vs cartoony and over saturated. Thank you SO much!
