Rlaarlo sent me a new 8-ch radio to test and review. I've spent about 4 hours using it before I even started to make this video. I wanted to understand it well so there were no surprises later!

First, the radio looks familiar because it is already on the market as the HotRC CT-8a (gyro-enabled receiver not included but available separately). Buuut this one has Rlaarlo firmware and quite honestly, a very compelling feature set for a crazy price. Even the spare gyro-equipped receivers are roughly DumboRC money. That's rather impressive, yes?

So yes, Rlaarlo CT8a and HotRC CT-8a look the same because they're from the same company. But don't let this put you off; Rlaarlo is all about their cars - and what a year they've had! Their new CT-8a 8-ch radio system is running Rlaarlo firmware and is ready to install in your favorite RC model from any brand. Oh, it has a gyro AND mixing AND multiple power sources.

It looks great on paper! But I'm typing this with an injury after testing the system for about 24 hours now. So, let's see what it's actually like to use.

If you're convinced, buy one here:

Rlaarlo CT8a Radio:

Extra Receiver:

(These are affiliate links to buy directly from Rlaarlo. If you use them to buy, I'll get an 8% commission, at no extra cost to you. Thanks for your support!)

Notes:
- I haven't been able to get the gyro to work correctly yet. Still working on it.
- not all 18650 batteries fit. I cover this in the video.
- make sure you don't buy their DumboRC receivers if you want extras, as they won't work with this radio.

Hey Craig! I really enjoyed watching you review that radio. It's a very interesting radio to me. The functionality of that radio at that price is truly amazing to me. I want to get my hands one and will... in a few short weeks. Once I saw the price AND you got a cut on the sale, I was all in! Thanks, mate, for the great info! 😎

been using this radio for 2 weeks with a Flux RX and a Muraco. I rate it. really responsive. swapped wheel for metal radiolink style with small spacer to keep away from main body. tiny round N52 magnets are the best thing for adding a button top to a flat top battery

Thank you for the review. I've been enjoying this remote a lot so far the only thing I haven't figured out is how to turn my lights on and off, it's on my traxxas 2wd slash, I have the lights connected to channel 3, I'm going to try what you did see if it works for me

Seems like a pretty nice radio. I really like that other companies are coming out with good radio systems and giving us options besides Spectrum. I.M.O. Horizon has kind of ruined Spectrum radios. Nice overview video you made of this new system. Merry Christmas to you friend, from the Great White North of the USA, here in Northern Maine!

Just checked their website, the price for such a transmitter is insane! And receiver at 9.99 USD, this can be a very option for a basher radio system.

I use Enloop Pro's in my radios as well. Don't understand why some folks use throw away batteries.

Hi, I bought the HotRC version and my first take is that the main difference between Rlaarlo and HotRC is the gyro receiver, the availability of the standard CNC wheel and comes with 16850 battery standard. All HotRC receivers are not waterproof (and I wished they are). I have not install it on any of my cars yet so I do not driving review. My biggest irk of this transmitter is how fingerprint magnet the surface is. Otherwise, it is compareable with all the midrange offering from the major brands. Cheers - from Indonesia

Hold up, a decent 8ch radio. I've legit been shopping for my last Radio with all the features I'd like, and I've seriously been floating around 2 or 3 different radios without being able to make a decision for 2-3 years now.

Hi Craig. I've been wanting to purchase this transmitter, able to adjust the EPA for the steering? As compared to the LDARC CT? Both are budget friendly. Able to help me out? Thanks. And as always great video with awesome reviews. 😊

40 USD is a bit expensive compare to the hotrc ct8a which i bought from TaoBao{Chinese version of aliexpress), 1 transmeter + 2 receiver cost me around 40 AUD, even though the hotrc version doesn't have the dyro but its cheaper, and basically the same thing

If i cant get it posted using aus post at the end it makes it much harder to receive for me. Cheers
