Ericsson did the same move same as a lot of others, so how does it just make Newgarden get a penalty? That’s just racing tactics

I don't see any wrong with Newgarden's pass. It was clean

Controversial???????????????

The weaving was legal as the rules are today, but I think they should ban putting all 4 wheels into the pitlane entry as a racing move. They're driving on a piece of track not intended for racing.

Everybody had cold tires.

I'm part of a group of long-time fans, and we're all in agreement that diving below the dotted line should not be allowed. We've seen too many vicious hits on that attenuator. We all know that Newgarden--(whom I have known personally since his Lights days, and I am glad to see him win--made a point that Race Control said going low there would not be penalized, but no one seems to know the purpose of that dotted line now.

No controversy. Completely normal driving.

Nothing wrong with Newgardens move. Them ignoring normal restart procedure which guaranteed Newgarden the win is what's controversial.

All the drivers were re-starting with the same "cold" tires. Ericsson was beat at his own game and he can't take it. He was swerving below the dotted line also... IT'S THE LAST LAP WHAT DO YOU EXPECT !!!!! The peoples INDY500 CHAMPION !!! Celebrated with the fans, Josef Newgarden, what a class act !!!!

TSN. I’d like to know why you are no longer covering F2? You guys are seriously dropping the ball.

You talkin’ about the pass, or the blocking move?

Sour grapes from Ericsson. He was in the lead after 2 red flags only because he was inches ahead of Newgarden on the previous restart, which was aborted within seconds, almost as soon as it began, with the leaders not even having a chance to race to Turn 1. But he doesn't want a 3rd red flag when it doesn't suit him?! Go figure. Newgarden deserved it, and he would have won anyway had there been only 1 red flag.

Only compliant i have is they keep talking about the pass, but never show the pass even once. they keep showing film after the pass already happened.

This is quite strange isn't it Rodger Penske owns the racetrack the Indycar series also three cars in the race which one of them is in second place. I never seen three red flags at the end of an indy 500. Really make you think about this one. So these are the rules ? Moving forward no indy car races will end with a yellow flag unless you control everything.

This was Erickson's mistake. He was tucked right up to Newgarden and in his draft through the corner. Erickson knew full well what Newgarden was going to do. He should have been slightly off the throttle in the corner letting NGD pull him and as soon as he was straight he should have punched the throttle and gone in a straight line to the finish line while NGD started is weaving which would have slowed him down. He would have recovered too late and EKSN might have been able to drag race him to the line.

The pass happened on the backstretch. The swerve into put lane was coming out of turn 4. I don’t see how that’s a controversial pass. He was breaking the tow.

Would you rather had the race end under caution? Let me ask the ones who cry fowl that. Yes it was odd that they had the one lap shootout but he had 4 corners to hold the field off but ultimately he failed to do that. Far as I'm concerned it was an racing deal nothing more.
