This was so cool and informative. I'm glad this got put up online for people like to me to hear about how things worked back then. Not just the Mother/Earthbound games, but Final Fantasy 1 I feel is also cool and a lot of those games he touched, it'd be so cool if Mr. Sandhop went to a convention or two and have a panel about this too. Thank you for providing this hour of information it was really fun c:

I wish this man had a Twitter, Facebook or Instagram! I would love to talk with him! He did a fabulous job translating my favourite Mother game! I'm watching this while I'm on my Wii U playing EarthBound Beginnings! Thank you Mr. Sandhop for an amazing translation job!

The release of Earthbound Beginnings makes me really happy while watching this video. To know that after all the hard work and struggle, its happening. :)

This makes sense to why the most recent Earth Bound prototype found without the UV protection wasn't erased because, as Phil said, it would take a really strong douse of the UV rays to erase the ROM. The cart was being sold at a garage sale out in broad daylight, but thankfully, Jacob Christopher, put some tape on the cart to prevent any further damage. It touches my heart when people do things like that to an amazing piece of history, preserving the past for others.

That info at around the 1 hour mark is juicy! My imagination is going wild thinking of what the packaging would've been like.

This is awesome. I always love getting to hear from the developers about how they made the games and what their thoughts were. I still wish we had gotten an official Earthbound NES cartridge.

I really enjoyed Tomato's Mother 1 translation, but I haven't played much of the original. It'd still be neat to see Mother 1 get released here.

@Richard G no, he didn't give it the ending. the japanese team did it after it was sent off but before the dev team was disbanded. Besides that, yeah. And I like him too.

Is this the guy responsible for, "localizing," the creative, unique, original masterpiece that was Tetris Attack?

Since EarthBound, I don't like the changes he made in Mother like towns that are named after holidays. EarthBound towns named after numbers and gamers like it. Podunk, Merrysville, Spookane, Youngtown, and Ellay are too clichéd. Holy Loly Mountain that is called Mt. Itoi, creators don't deserve to be named for places. The abbreviated names like BioCenti, LastStarman makes the game look bugged. Jen, Caroline, and Suzy have different names also. I prefer the Famicom credits because of the Eight Melodies that is playing in the credits on Holy Loly--it fits with the slogan "No Crying Until the Ending." We already know that the adults will be free if Gyiyg is defeated if you talk to the prisoner before getting the eighth melody. It is acceptable for the fact that Teddy is killed.
