Dude thank you so much. I originally started playing guitar to phish but had no understanding of what he was doing and gave up. Fast forward 10 years and I have the technical skills to keep up and now the musical understanding of what he’s doing. Best day ever over here. It all clicked! Thanks again.

Probably the best explanation I've found of Trey's lead work I've found on the web, keep it coming brotha! A lot of this stuff I find myself doing subconsciously due to all the Phish I consume/play, but it's awesome to get the theory behind it to connect your brain to your fingers. Truly sublime lesson, thanks!

Really great ,simple, effective lesson.I also hear the outline of a dominant be bop scale as well, in what is being played.

Really great lesson. I always hear about "chord tones" and how to use them to build tension, but you've articulated it really clearly here. I was playing along and a lot of things started clicking- finally felt like I was getting out of that repetitive pentatonic noodle and into something with real structure. Cheers.

Man, it’s scary how accurate this is. You hear this absolutely everywhere in Trey’s playing.

Whoooooah... What a GREAT lesson. You are exactly what I was looking for. Not a nasty lesson. For those who know the basics, you are super clear... The move up to the next chord tone at the end of a 4 bar phrase was SUPER helpful! Thank you!

They did what all of us are trying to do.. find music/bands that inspire us and further it into our own style of playing. Thanks for all of your videos especially this one.

Thanks for posting this video! I was initially lured in by the Phish / Trey aspect but it has helped fill a big gap of my understanding of solos in general.
